He appeared in a feature<\/a> by the Herald about the 12 men shaping Auckland and beyond in May.<\/p>\n Winton<\/a> is one of the country\u2019s busiest developers, its projects spanning hospitality as well as housing and retirement villages.<\/p>\n The Southland-born businessman affectionately named his company Winton after the small town he was adopted from.<\/p>\n \u201cParents adopted me from Winton. When my parents picked me up, I was in Winton,\u201d he said in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n Meehan\u2019s wife is Olympian sailor Michaela Meehan, who is Danish and competed at the Atlanta, Sydney and Athens Olympics.<\/p>\n They are friends with Danish royalty and divide their time between Queenstown and Auckland.<\/p>\n Chris Meehan<\/a> worked for many years in Australia, where he founded Belle Property, one of that country\u2019s leading real estate franchises.<\/p>\n Meehan shot to public prominence here in 2021 when he listed part of Winton Land on the NZX and ASX.<\/p>\n That business is building new housing and retirement villages as well as hospitality precincts Ayrburn near Arrowtown and Bravo at Cracker Bay<\/a>, in Auckland\u2019s Wynyard Quarter.<\/p>\n That new restaurant opened in the autumn to great acclaim.<\/p>\n He has paused<\/a> his $750 million retirement village project in the Wynyard Quarter until the market improves.<\/p>\n He said<\/a> Ayrburn near Arrowtown, which Winton developed, would get one million plus visitors annually.<\/p>\nMichaela and Chris Meehan at the opening of Bravo.
