“And I was like, ‘What?’ And she was like, ‘You should be dating someone like Selena’.”

Although he and Selena were friendly but not “best friends”, Benny really liked spending time with the Lose You to Love Me hitmaker.

He said: “There was like two times in my life where I left a specific session or late video with her where I was like, ‘Wow, she’s so cool. She’s like really cool’.”

Benny even spoke “so positively” about the Only Murders in the Building star with an ex-girlfriend, who reached out to congratulate him and Selena when they tied the knot at the luxurious Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California, last September.

The 12-time Grammy nominee shared: “An ex-girlfriend of mine from way before that, like five years before that, I was texting with her one time and she said, ‘You know, it’s so great you guys got married’. I remember you talking so positively about Selena even when we were together.’

“Just as like a friendly thing.”

Benny confirmed that Sandra “planted the seed” for him and Selena to get married, after podcast guest, Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, 46, wondered if his mother did.

Benny added: “She was like, ‘She’s got her head on her shoulders.’ She was like, ‘She’s so sweet, she’s this and that.’

“Everyone says you always marry your best friend. That’s how it works. And she’s my f***ing best friend.”

He and Selena started dating in mid-2023, with the latter confirming their relationship in December that year.

In December 2024, the pair announced their engagement.

And in September 2025, Benny and Selena got married in front of around 170 loved ones during a beautiful ceremony, officiated by Lil Dicky, who also served as best man.

On a March episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Benny admitted he was “so f***ing nervous” and “anxious” during the wedding.

Benny said: “They start playing Selena’s song. Instantly, I see you in the shadow, and I go, ‘What’s happening?’ And my body, like, I started doing things where I was, like, I could feel it.

“We were laughing, crying, talking.”

Selena added: “The whole time I remember just staring at no one else but you and I kept going, ‘It’s okay, we’ve got this.’”

“And I was like, ‘What?’ And she was like, ‘You should be dating someone like Selena’.” Although he…

[32
95,9218,44487,44488,44490,430,60993,156,2082,41565,2882,156457,6178,111,139,69,28203,1974,5714,41564,45608,427,165,6859,1530
post-494632","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-celebrities","tag-and","tag-before","tag-benny","tag-blanco","tag-blancos","tag-celebrities","tag-credits","tag-entertainment","tag-for","tag-gomez","tag-love","tag-marry","tag-mother","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-producer","tag-record","tag-romance","tag-selena","tag-sparking","tag-story","tag-their","tag-told","tag-years
["GET
