\u201cBut the truth is, Jim, I wasn\u2019t going to let my two sons down.<\/p>\n
\u201cI promised them since they were born that we were going to go to a World Cup. And this is the first one that\u2019s come about. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it wasn\u2019t a good look, I admit, but I\u2019m going to have to just take the stick. So I did it for the boys.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stewart had said in the video: \u201cHere we are flying off to Boston to see Scotland in the World Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been 28 years so these kids, I\u2019ve told them about it, but they\u2019ve never been. I\u2019ve been to seven World Cups.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commenters were quick to slam Stewart for making the trip, despite his illness and show cancellation.<\/p>\n
One wrote: \u201cThis feels rather disingenuous, especially after your cancellation last night. Too ill to perform but okay to fly across the country for soccer?\u201d.<\/p>\n

As another added: \u201cSo you blew off all the people in San Diego that wanted to see you in concert but able to go to the world cup I see! I\u2019m a huge fan of yours but I don\u2019t think that\u2019s cool\u201d.<\/p>\n
While a third commented: \u201cI understand that shows sometimes have to be canceled, and if there was a legitimate reason, most fans would have accepted it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s hard to accept is seeing you apparently celebrating on a plane with friends less than 24 hours after thousands of people were sent home disappointed in San Diego.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany traveled long distances, paid for hotels, parking, tickets, and took time off work to be there.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen to see you flying across the country for a soccer game the very next morning makes the situation feel even more tone deaf.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cancellation was frustrating enough, but this comes across as incredibly dismissive of the fans who support your career.
