The triptych artwork is by Gabrielle Boshier.Jennifer Soo<\/p>\n<p>The house<br \/>A one-bedroom apartment in an iconic 1960s block on a hill between Bronte and Tamarama beaches, in Sydney\u2019s eastern suburbs, and featuring an eclectic retro interior that nods to its coastal surrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Who lives here<br \/>Interior designer Britt Ross and her partner, Brady Paterson, a musician and hairdresser.<\/p>\n<p>What we did<br \/>Leaning into a layered interior design style with one-of-a-kind pieces, Ross reworked the 40-square-metre layout to maximise space, adding clever storage details such as a built-in dining area and a TV concealed in a cupboard.<\/p>\n<p>Favourite room<br \/>\u201cThe bedroom,\u201d says Ross. \u201cI designed the rug and lengthened it into carpet panels that extend up the wall as a headboard, creating a soft, enveloping effect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u2019hood<br \/>\u201cHaving Bronte and Tamarama beaches just a short walk away means we can start the day with a swim. We feel incredibly lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Future plans<br \/>\u201cThere are a few ideas brewing,\u201d says Ross. \u201cA bespoke day bed on the balcony might be next on the list.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Best advice<br \/>\u201cI was hesitant to paint the popcorn ceilings, but applying the same colour as the walls transformed each space,\u201d says Ross. \u201cUsing peach in the bedroom and blue in the bathroom added intimacy and depth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"To create a cooking and dining area, Ross adapted the kitchen\u2019s joinery to include a banquette upholstered in Paul-\u00c9lie Ranson\u2019s art nouveau design, \u201cWater Lilies\u201d.\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/a218c1a52bdd3728454effde9a36e2bed0db496c.jpeg\"  class=\"sc-d34e428-1 bNAuyX\"\/>To create a cooking and dining area, Ross adapted the kitchen\u2019s joinery to include a banquette upholstered in Paul-\u00c9lie Ranson\u2019s art nouveau design, \u201cWater Lilies\u201d.Jennifer Soo<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The bathroom is in its original blue.
