The cause of a house fire in \u014ct\u016bmoetai this afternoon is under investigation, after fire crews responded to reports of a smoke-filled home.<\/p>\n
Fire and Emergency New Zealand received the call at 2.26pm, reporting smoke and a sounding alarm coming from a three-storey property.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received a call to a smoke-logged three-storey house with the smoke alarm sounding,\u201d said shift manager Garreth Lewis.<\/p>\n
Three fire trucks from the Tauranga and Greerton stations were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n
The fire was located in a bedroom on the second floor of the 15-by-15 metre house and was quickly brought under control.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have extinguished the fire, are damping down hotspots, and ventilating the house,\u201d said Lewis.\u00a0\u201cThe fire was just contained to that one bedroom on the second floor.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is not yet known whether anyone was home at the time.
