We know what\u2019s on the horizon: Nations Cup, South African tour, Northern tour and a World Cup as well. It\u2019s where you want to be as an All Black, and we can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Rennie has been open about wanting to run a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/rugby\/all-blacks\/dave-rennies-first-all-blacks-squad-loaded-with-attacking-firepower\/M2CJPJXXM5F2XLXGAGO35U47O4\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/rugby\/all-blacks\/dave-rennies-first-all-blacks-squad-loaded-with-attacking-firepower\/M2CJPJXXM5F2XLXGAGO35U47O4\/\">more open game plan<\/a>, with predecessor Scott Robertson criticised for being one-dimensional.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Barrett explained players are getting encouraged to use their intuition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cBeing a bit more ambitious with the ball and some of the measurables around effort and bigger stats, and getting off the ground and working hard for each other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cBeing more alive to the options we can have with the ball, and maybe not being as conservative as we have been in the past. We\u2019ll get tested this weekend, and we\u2019ll have to grow that throughout the year. But been probably a little bit more positive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Barrett is impressed with what attack coach Blair has brought to the All Blacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cCertainly some different ideas. It\u2019s just a nice positive fresh approach, and I\u2019ve enjoyed what he\u2019s done in a few days in here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">The up-tempo style is familiar to Barrett, whose Hurricanes set a Super Rugby record in scoring 114 tries this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cA lot of Super Rugby clubs probably use that model. I know we do at the Hurricanes. It\u2019s something we pride ourselves on, being really ambitious with the ball and moving fast. Photo \/ Photosport<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Barrett is widely tipped to combine with some of his Hurricanes teammates in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/rugby\/all-blacks\/all-blacks-dave-rennies-named-his-squad-now-lets-pick-his-first-team-paul-lewis\/premium\/6725HX7MVBCK5BH7IX3ORSNYIM\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/sport\/rugby\/all-blacks\/all-blacks-dave-rennies-named-his-squad-now-lets-pick-his-first-team-paul-lewis\/premium\/6725HX7MVBCK5BH7IX3ORSNYIM\/\">All Blacks backline<\/a>, with Cam Roigard, Ruben Love, Billy Proctor, Josh Moorby and Fehi Fineanganofo all in the squad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">However, the midfielder stressed Super Rugby combinations do not determine test selection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cThere are no fairytales in the All Blacks jersey. You\u2019re not guaranteed something because you play next to someone at club rugby. The coaches will pick the best people they think can get a result for the All Blacks on Saturday, and players know that. Nothing\u2019s ever promised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cCertainly, familiarity can help. But it isn\u2019t the be-all and end-all in this environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Hot competition for Barrett in the No 12 jumper will come from Super Rugby player of the year, Chiefs second five Quinn Tupaea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Barrett said Tupaea is an outstanding player.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cHe was in unbelievable form throughout the year. A devastating ball carrier and a real good jackal threat over the ball. They\u2019re probably his two biggest strengths, and it\u2019s nice being on his team now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">Anton Lienert-Brown is fighting for the centre position with Proctor after a season under Rennie at the Kobe Steelers in Japan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NQVPqQgxO\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cI love working with Billy Proctor; he\u2019s one of the best 13s I\u2019ve ever played with,\u201d said Barrett. \u201cAnton\u2019s back from Japan, and he\u2019s played 80 odd tests, world class every time he plays.
