\u201cShe said, \u2018Uncle, there\u2019s a big fire down Colin White Rd. It\u2019s going off\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe reckons there was big explosions.\u201d <\/p>\n
Makoare arrived on the scene to find a \u201cbig fire\u201d about 10 minutes after the call.<\/p>\n
There he found a man from Feilding who had stopped his truck on the road to call police.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said to me one of the things that really stood out for him was there was a lot of cars that passed and never actually stopped,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI realise we\u2019re all busy, but somebody could have been in the car. You almost want to know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makoare said he didn\u2019t believe anyone was in the car and hadn\u2019t heard anything to the contrary.<\/p>\n
He said it was important to keep in touch with your community when situations like this arose.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo matter where you are, ring the neighbour if there\u2019s something that\u2019s suspicious.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do rely on the police and I think this is a good time for us to all stand up.\u201d<\/p>\n
