New Zealanders should soon be able to gain access to some of Anthropic’s most powerful new artificial intelligence tools.<\/p>\n
Anthropic restricted access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 last month, after the United States government banned exports of the technology on security grounds. The move would have blocked New Zealanders from using the technology.<\/p>\n
However, the company posted on social media on Wednesday afternoon that it had received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.<\/p>\n
On X, Anthropic said that it would begin restoring access “tomorrow”, and would share an update soon.<\/p>\n
“We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.”<\/p>\n
Claude Fable 5 is Anthropic’s most powerful AI model to date that has been made safe for general use.<\/p>\n
The company insisted it had a number of guardrails added.<\/p>\n
Mythos 5 does not contain the same safeguards and is not for use by the general public.<\/p>\n
