Not only that but \u201cthe people around Taylor want her to get help and get better\u201d.<\/p>\n

The source said: \u201cEveryone is just trying to protect the kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor is also mum to 2-year-old son Ever, whose dad is Mortenson.<\/p>\n

In April, Taylor and Mortensen were granted mutual protective orders against each other for the next three years.<\/p>\n

The exes are both claiming the other acted violently in a series of altercations in February, with Commissioner Russell Minas making the ruling, adding at the time the pair can\u2019t be in the same place together for long before \u201cit turns violent\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was the first time Taylor and Mortensen had appeared in public together since the news broke of domestic violence investigations.<\/p>\n

Minas said: \u201cI\u2019m finding that there\u2019s been violence both ways between these parties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing their dynamic as \u201ctoxic\u201d and \u201cdysfunctional\u201d, he urged Taylor and Mortensen to put their son first, while reminding them that they will be \u201clinked together for the remainder of [their] lives\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cYou guys have to figure out a lot here. You have to figure out how to function as co-parents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minas described that as the former couple\u2019s \u201clegacy\u201d, insisting that how they \u201cdeal with conflict\u201d could \u201caffect\u201d Ever as he grows up.<\/p>\n

The commissioner also noted that for the time being, \u201cwhat\u2019s best\u201d for Ever is to make sure his parents are not allowed to \u201cbe in the same place at the same time\u201d.<\/p>\n

In response to the ruling, Taylor\u2019s lawyer Eric M. Swinyard told People magazine that the decision was a \u201csignificant step forward\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor was incredibly candid with the court that she is not perfect and owned her faults, which is in direct contrast to how the other party presented their argument, despite evidence and input from law enforcement that showed otherwise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor feels solidarity with the many survivors who have endured similar hardships behind closed doors and shared only part of their stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

The attorney also said Taylor \u201cremains grateful for the outpouring of support she continues to receive\u201d and \u201clooks forward to continuing to co-operate with the court to make progress in the custody case\u201d.<\/p>\n

Police previously declined to press charges on the domestic violence allegations.<\/p>\n
