A man already facing firearm and drug charges after a traffic stop in New Lynn last week is now facing further charges, following the discovery of a second weapon and more drugs during a police search warrant in Glen Eden.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old, who was forbidden to drive, was initially stopped in New Lynn last Tuesday<\/a>, with a loaded sawn-off shotgun, methamphetamine, and $5000 cash found in his vehicle.<\/p>\n

He was charged with breaching bail, unlawfully possessing a firearm and failing to comply with the terms of his licence.<\/p>\n

Detective Senior Sergeant Josh Lautogo said the Waitemat\u0101 gang disruption unit then executed a search warrant at a Glen Eden property.<\/p>\n

“Located inside the property was a loaded cut-down .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, methamphetamine, cannabis, and other items of interest.”<\/p>\n

He said the recovery of another firearm and illicit substances were a “direct result of proactive policing and intelligence-led operations”.<\/p>\n

Further charges were now being considered in relation to items located during the search.<\/p>\n

“We will continue to use every available tool to hold offenders to account,” Lautogo said.<\/p>\n

The alleged offender appeared in the Wait\u0101kere District Court on September 23 in relation to the earlier charges and was remanded in custody.<\/p>\n
