A man has been arrested over an “unprovoked” intermittent nine-minute attack on an Auckland bus last month. <\/p>\n
The assault occurred at around 6pm on Sunday, June 21, on a North Shore bus. <\/p>\n
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said the “intermittent” assault was captured on CCTV and lasted around nine minutes. <\/p>\n
“The victim was extremely shaken by the incident and required medical treatment for their injuries,” Williams said. <\/p>\n
The alleged offender could not be found, and an investigation was launched. <\/p>\n
With help from the public, police identified the suspect, and he was arrested yesterday. <\/p>\n
A 37-year-old man was charged with injuring with intent to injure and impeding breathing.<\/p>\n
He was due to appear in the North Shore District Court today, and his bail has been opposed. <\/p>\n
\u201cPolice have no tolerance for violence taking place on public transport, and we will continue to prosecute those offenders,\u201d Williams said. <\/p>\n
