The post came as Swift and Kelce were preparing for a series of reported wedding events in New York, including a rehearsal dinner attended by around 100 guests before a larger celebration expected over the Fourth of July weekend.<\/p>\n
The timing of the White House post drew attention given Trump’s long-running public criticism of the singer. In 2025, the president wrote on Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I hate Taylor Swift,’ she’s no longer ‘hot?'”<\/p>\n
Following the Super Bowl that year, Trump also wrote,\u00a0“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift.”<\/p>\n
However, after learning of Swift and Kelce’s engagement, Trump struck a more conciliatory tone, telling reporters,\u00a0“I wish them a lot of luck. He’s a great player and she’s a terrific person.”<\/p>\n
Several celebrities, including Adam Sandler, Jack Antonoff, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, were seen in New York ahead of the reported wedding celebrations.<\/p>\n
