The Getty Center<\/a> is about to launch a new exhibition<\/a> \u2013 alongside free printmaking classes. <\/p>\n

Odilon Redon: Otherworldly Visions is set to premiere at the Center on Tuesday, July<\/a> 14, 2026, and run through October 18, 2026. <\/p>\n

According to a press release, the exhibition features \u201can exceptional group of charcoal drawings, lithographs and pastels from the\u00a0Getty\u2019s collection, including the macabre \u2018Battle of the Bones,\u2019 a recent acquisition, as well as loans from a handful of other institutions. Visitors will explore Redon\u2019s singular artistic vision through his diverse sources of inspiration, from religion and mythology to literature and modern science.\u00a0\u201c<\/p>\n

The exhibition will explore the unusual visual world of Redon\u2019s work in four parts: Noir, Lithography, Print Portfolios, and Color. Timothy Potts, Maria Hummer-Tuttle and Robert Tuttle Director of the\u00a0Getty\u00a0Museum, shared their thoughts on Redon\u2019s collection in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an artist who dissolved the boundaries between the visible and the imagined, this display brings renewed attention to Redon\u2019s visionary work which has always been highly popular with our visitors,\u201d said Potts. \u201cBuilding on that popularity, in this exhibition we are delighted to share the Museum\u2019s remarkable collection of Redon\u2019s\u00a0noir\u00a0drawings, pastels and prints in one cohesive experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danielle Canter, assistant curator of drawings at the\u00a0Getty\u00a0Museum, added, \u201cOdilon Redon used his art to offer new interpretations of the familiar, rendering literary subjects and the natural world in original ways. We hope visitors who experience Redon\u2019s dreamlike world through the exhibition will find inspiration in the artist\u2019s unique vision and boundless imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n

To kick off the new exhibition, the Getty Center is hosting an afternoon concert and talk on Saturday, July 18, at 4 pm, that will connect Redon\u2019s work to the music, literature, and art that inspired his work. Tickets are free, but required to attend<\/a> Odilon Redon Salon: Words and Music. <\/p>\n

And on select Sundays in July and August, visitors can also take free printmaking sessions related to the exhibition. <\/p>\n

The Getty Center is free to enter and open Tuesdays through Sundays. Parking at the center is $25, and drops to $15 after 3 pm. <\/p>\n
