Brown said he was diagnosed with Dupuytren\u2019s contracture, which is a hereditary and progressive hand condition where tissue thickens and scars. <\/p>\n
The condition, sometimes referred to as Viking\u2019s disease, was noticeably impacting his ability to cook. <\/p>\n
In recent weeks, he underwent surgery, which left him with a lightning bolt-shaped scar. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo get that surgery done was pretty amazing. They just block your arm; it\u2019s a little bit like an epidural. I was awake while they did that, and I could watch.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt looked like they were working on a mannequin\u2019s arm. It didn\u2019t feel like it was mine,\u201d Brown said. <\/p>\n

Brown said it was a weird yet fascinating time, particularly because of his previous experiences in meat fabrication and fish cutting. <\/p>\n

Brown shared a post after the procedure with an image of his \u201cgnarly\u201d scar during a cooking tutorial. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to tell my grandchildren that I tried to catch some lightning. I think that\u2019ll make a good story,\u201d Brown joked in the video. <\/p>\n

Most recently, Brown underwent surgery on his ear. <\/p>\n
He was diagnosed with aural exostoses, which is commonly known as surfer\u2019s ear. The condition is caused by an abnormal growth of bone inside the ear canal. <\/p>\n
Brown shared a post from his hospital bed yesterday after the procedure with his head bandaged up. <\/p>\n
He wrote: \u201c26 is my year of personal \u2018panel beating\u2019! First my hand, now my ear. This getting old s***, takes its toll.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brown had a similar operation 17 years ago for the condition. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhile it\u2019s still pretty invasive, the surgery, they sort of cut the ear back right off and then get into the canal and stuff. Just doesn\u2019t seem nearly as fraught as it was the first time. <\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t looking forward to it very much, but actually I\u2019ve been pleasantly surprised,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
