The interview has taken on added poignancy following her death, which her family confirmed in a statement after she had spent weeks in intensive care in Portugal.<\/p>\n

Tyler had undergone emergency surgery for a perforated intestine before being placed in an induced coma, later regaining consciousness in June before suffering further complications.<\/p>\n

Asked by Kelly whether she would ever \u201cslow down\u201d, Tyler said: \u201cI often say next year I\u2019ll slow down \u2026 but I love what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI love what I do. The boys are great to be on the road with. We have a good time on the stage as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we have a lot of fun. I tell a lot of stories in between my songs \u2026 what they\u2019re about and everything. I\u2019ve had a wonderful life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler laughed about the enduring popularity of Total Eclipse of the Heart, after the Jim Steinman-penned anthem surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.<\/p>\n

Lorraine said: \u201cTotal Eclipse of the Heart. Massive song. It\u2019s used all the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou see adverts all the time, you hear it all the time. It\u2019s had a billion streams on Spotify.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think to yourself, \u2018Oh, well, that\u2019s great. Bonnie can sit back with her feet up\u2019, but the Spotify thing \u2026 you don\u2019t really get much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler replied: \u201cI didn\u2019t write the song \u2026 I\u2019m just the singer, you know!\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer\u2019s comments came before a dramatic deterioration in her health.<\/p>\n

Tyler was admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, after suffering a perforated intestine and was later placed into an induced coma<\/a> as doctors attempted to aid her recovery.<\/p>\n

Her family announced in June she had regained consciousness but remained critically ill in intensive care.<\/p>\n

They confirmed on Wednesday that she had died. <\/p>\n

A statement published on Tyler\u2019s official website said: \u201cBonnie\u2019s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler became one of Britain\u2019s defining rock voices after achieving international success with It\u2019s a Heartache before reaching global superstardom with Total Eclipse of the Heart in 1983.<\/p>\n

She also recorded Holding Out for a Hero, which has enjoyed repeated revivals through film, television and streaming, introducing her music to new generations of listeners.<\/p>\n

Tyler later represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 and was appointed an MBE for services to music in 2023.<\/p>\n

Despite her illness, she remained committed to performing.<\/p>\n

Her final public appearance came at London\u2019s O2 Shepherd\u2019s Bush Empire in March, while several UK and European tour dates were postponed or cancelled as her condition worsened.<\/p>\n

Among those paying tribute was Sir Cliff Richard, who wrote on Facebook: \u201cAnother wonderful friend gone too soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cBonnie\u2019s infectious zest for life entertained so many around the world, and to be a good friend to all, including me.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is shocking news to wake up to you this morning and I send my love to her family at this very sad time.
