Sir Peter Jackson\u2019s returning to the director\u2019s chair for his first feature film in more than a decade \u2013 the sequel to 2011’s The Adventures of Tintin. <\/p>\n
The 64-year-old, best known for directing the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, has not helmed a feature film since 2014\u2019s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. <\/p>\n
The Wellingtonian has worked on numerous documentaries, however, including They Shall Not Grow Old (2018) and The Beatles: Get Back (2021).<\/p>\n
He’s also kept busy as a producer, working on Mortal Engines (2018) and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.<\/p>\n
Jackson told entertainment website Gold Derby he would be returning to direct a follow-up to the Tintin film, adding that he and his partner Fran Walsh were working on a script.<\/p>\n
\u201cFran and I have been writing a script for the next Tintin film because 15 years ago, Steven Spielberg directed a Tintin film and I produced it,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The 2011 film, based on the Belgian comic series, follows the titular Tintin, his dog Snowy and Captain Haddock as they search for treasure on a ship, the Unicorn.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea was that then I was supposed to go straight onto a second one, and we\u2019d swap the roles, so I\u2019d direct the second one and he\u2019d produce it,\u201d Jackson explained. \u201cIt\u2019s just taken 15 years to get there, unfortunately, a bit late. But it\u2019s a timeless story. So, we just wrapped up.
