Big Bang Theory<\/a> star Jim Parsons<\/a> led one of the highest grossing TV shows of all time<\/a>, but his success came with a steep price he revealed. <\/p>\n

The four-time Emmy<\/a>-winning actor, 53, said he was \u201cmiserable\u201d at the height of his career, because of the pressure and discipline he placed on himself to succeed. <\/p>\n

\u201cI look back now and realise that there were many ways, at some of the best moments of my life, I was miserable,\u201d Parsons said during an appearance on All Out with Jon Dean<\/a> this week. \u201cI was not happy. I was stressed\u201d. <\/p>\n

The actor felt he was juggling so many plates because he felt \u201cthe success and good things of life\u201d were only happening \u201cdue to this overworking\u201d or the \u201cdiscipline\u201d he instilled. <\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe to a degree that was true. I don\u2019t know,\u201d he admitted on the show. \u201cBut I wouldn\u2019t do that again and for any amount of money \u2026 just because it was stressful and miserable at times. I made myself miserable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of your own work ethic?\u201d host Jon Dean clarified. <\/p>\n

Parsons explained it was in part work ethic, \u201cbut it was really just obsessive behaviour basically\u201d. <\/p>\n

The actor revealed he would always have a \u201clist of things\u201d in his head he had to get done to feel comfortable and to know that he could do his job right, which looking back, he now feels wasn\u2019t true. <\/p>\n

Parsons said he missed out on \u201ctons of life\u201d because of the obsessive routine he had built for himself. <\/p>\n

Parsons opened up about the \u201cstress\u201d he created for himself on All Out with Jon Dean. \u00a0YouTube\/@jondeanallout<\/p>\n

But, he acknowledged that his perfectionism did help get him to where he is today.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be where I am right now if I hadn\u2019t had that time of life,\u201d he reflected. <\/p>\n

Parsons played Dr Sheldon Copper in the hit sitcom from 2007 to 2019. The series ended after a mammoth 12-season run. <\/p>\n

Parson\u2019s paycheck of $US1 million<\/a> ($1.5 million) per episode made him reportedly the highest-paid actor in television at the time according to\u00a0Celebrity Net Worth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Big Bang Theory launched his career in Hollywood, leading to roles in\u00a0Hidden Figures, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile\u00a0and\u00a0The Boys in the Band,\u00a0as well as becoming the executive producer and series\u2019 narrator for\u00a0Young Sheldon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The spin-off and prequel ran for seven seasons from 2017 to 2024.
