New Movies Streaming\u2018The Hunt for the Wilderpeople\u2019 (2016)<\/p>\n

Sam Neill, who passed away this week at age 78<\/a>, was best known for his work in American blockbusters like \u201cJurassic Park\u201d and \u201cThe Hunt for Red October.\u201d But the New Zealand native returned to his roots in this Kiwi comedy, playing a reluctant father figure on the run with his ward (Julian Dennison). The pair\u2019s journey away from society and deeper into the bush<\/a> is dotted with outlandish characters portrayed by fellow New Zealanders, including Rhys Darby and the film\u2019s director, Taika Waititi.<\/p>\n

\u2018Obsession\u2019 (2026)<\/p>\n

The surprise horror hit of 2026, Curry Barker\u2019s cautionary tale \u2014 about a timid twentysomething named Bear (Michael Johnston) who wishes for his crush Nikki (Inde Navarrette) to love him above all else \u2014 grossed more than $400 million on a paltry $750,000 budget. It\u2019s a classic monkey\u2019s paw situation \u2014 Bear\u2019s wish immediately comes true, but the unintended consequences are alarming. Navarrette, in a breakthrough performance, is unforgettable.<\/p>\n

\u2018Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?\u2019 (2000)<\/p>\n

You should definitely go watch Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d<\/a> on the biggest screen possible this weekend. But if you\u2019re loath to leave the couch, it\u2019s also worth revisiting one of the more recent (and more amusing) takes on Homer\u2019s epic poem. Ulysses \u201cEverett\u201d McGill (George Clooney) may lack the wit of Odysseus, but the Coen Brothers\u2019 folksy journey features a stranded wife (Holly Hunter), mesmerizing sirens, and a dangerous cyclops (John Goodman).<\/p>\n

New TV Shows Streaming\u2018Lucky\u2019 Season 1<\/p>\n

Crime runs in the family in this brisk seven-episode series, the latest in a string of winners from Apple TV. The series starts with Lucky (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her husband Cary (Drew Starkey) celebrating in Las Vegas with an ill-gotten bag of $10 million waiting upstairs. Turns out Lucky\u2019s father (Timothy Olyphant) stole the money from Cary\u2019s mother (Annette Bening), which quickly leads to quite the kerfuffle. Not to be outdone, the FBI agent investigating the family (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) has her teenage daughter (Aadyn Encalarde) along for the ride.<\/p>\n

\u2018Silo\u2019 Season 3<\/p>\n

Already missing the ominous wildfire-choked skies from earlier this week? Check out\u00a0\u201cSilo,\u201d\u00a0Apple TV\u2019s post-apocalyptic sci-fi series about the last 10,000 people on Earth living inside a massive underground silo. If you haven\u2019t watched the first two seasons yet, just know that many people \u2014 including engineer Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson), begin to suspect that the silo\u2019s mayor (Tim Robbins) isn\u2019t being completely honest about what\u2019s on the surface.<\/p>\n
