BEIJING, July 19 (Reuters) – China’s Jingye Steel has urged Britain \u200cto immediately stop “trampling on international \u200cinvestment rules” and to promptly, fully and \u200beffectively compensate the company for all investment losses incurred in the decision to nationalise British Steel. <\/p>\n
The \u200cBritish side “disregarded \u2060dedicated ongoing investment and significant contributions”, offering “almost zero compensation”, \u2060Jingye said in a statement on Sunday. <\/p>\n
The company also pointed \u200bout that \u200bthe United \u200bKingdom had spent \u00a3377 \u200cmillion ($507.18 million) to operate British Steel as of the end of January, and expects that the amount would have exceeded \u00a3600 million by \u200cthe end of \u200bJune, with expenditures \u200bpossibly exceeding \u00a31.5 \u200bbillion by 2028. <\/p>\n
China said \u200cit would closely monitor \u200bdevelopments and \u200bwill take appropriate measures to safeguard legitimate rights and interests \u200bif \u200cwarranted. <\/p>\n
