A longtime voice in the Edmonton radio world is leaving, with Sonic 102.9 host Layne Mitchell announcing his departure.<\/p>\n
Mitchell posted to his social media Sunday evening, stating he will be leaving the station, marking nearly 20 years as a well-known voice on the airwaves in the city.<\/p>\n
In the nearly four-minute-long clip, Mitchell goes on to thank listeners while reminiscing on all of the wild things he experienced and important world events he witnessed during his time on air.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really hope you continue to listen to Sonic, and I hope the station does just as well without me. I do want to say a huge thank you to Rogers, thank you to all the sponsors, but more than anything, thank you. Thank you for listening. We laughed together. We shared stories,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n
Near the end of the clip, Mitchell goes on to say that he\u2019s not sure what is coming next for him; however, he mentioned that people will still be able to hear his voice in commercials, concert promos and movie trailers across the country.<\/p>\n
He added he\u2019s also going to\u00a0engineer and produce some local bands, and maybe take on some personal training clients.<\/p>\n
\u201cMostly, I\u2019m gonna just follow my bliss while I look for that next mountain to climb. Until then, sincerely, thank you for listening,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
