SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A Sarasota native is making waves in Los Angeles, and now her voice can be heard on the new Rolling Stones album.<\/p>\n
Naarai Jacobs has spent the last decade building a career in music after moving to Los Angeles in 2015. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve worked with this producer called Andrew Watts. He\u2019s a really really a brilliant producer, he is very young and a lot of the greats are working with like Elton John, the Rolling Stones, even some of the younger, Gaga, Justin Bieber,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Along the way, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Beyonc\u00e9, Elton John and Kanye West.<\/p>\n
Her father, Nate Jacobs, said he could not be prouder of his daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cProud, very proud. The world is proud of my extremely talented songbird, which is my daughter Naari,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Naarai\u2019s first big break came when she sang with Beyonc\u00e9 at Coachella.<\/p>\n
Since then, she has continued to build relationships in the music industry and take on new opportunities.<\/p>\n
Last fall, Naarai received a late-night message from producer Andrew Watt, whom she had previously worked with on \u201cFinish Line,\u201d an Elton John song featuring Stevie Wonder.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had someone DM on Instagram saying, \u2018I\u2019ve been looking for you, I need you to sing on something,\u2019\u201d Naarai said.<\/p>\n
At the end of the conversation, she learned who the project was for.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was flabbergasted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
That project was the Rolling Stones\u2019 latest album.<\/p>\n
Naarai is featured on two songs: \u201cMr. Charm\u201d and \u201cBack in Your Life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I heard everything that was all mixed and mastered, it\u2019s amazing,\u201d Naarai said. \u201cThe first time I heard \u2018Mr. Charm,\u2019 I was listening to it on my phone while I was packing and stuff, so I wasn\u2019t really hearing it, but then I listened in my car and was like whoa, it\u2019s such a big record, and then \u2018Back In Your Life\u2019 is this smooth and bluesy song.\u201d <\/p>\n
Naarai said she knew Mick Jagger would be in the studio, but it took some time to fully process the opportunity.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he told me that Mick Jagger would be there, but I still hadn\u2019t wrapped my head around that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
When Jagger walked into the studio, Naarai says she heard his British accent coming down the hall.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe walks in, and he\u2019s so friendly, warm, and kind,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Naarai said the key to working with major artists is staying focused and getting out of her own head.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorking with the big artists as I do, you have to get out of your head because when the artist is right in front of me, you\u2019ll flub it up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
For Nate, the moment is the result of years of hard work from his daughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe works hard and has consistently worked for these doors to open up, and I tell her all the time that all these doors are opening for all the 10 years that you\u2019ve been out there because of your diligence, consistency, your professionalism, and your amazing talents. Pat yourself on the back because you\u2019re doing good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Naarai said she never planned out a list of famous artists she wanted to work with.<\/p>\n
\u201cNone of this I\u2019ve planned out,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve worked with some incredible artists, some big, some small, and some my personal heroes, and I\u2019m just grateful. There\u2019s not a list of artists where I\u2019ve said I want to work with; I\u2019m extremely grateful, especially now, to be getting those calls on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, after working with some of the biggest names in music, Naarai is still chasing the dream that first brought her to Los Angeles, becoming an artist in her own right and one day sharing her own music with the world.<\/p>\n
