While the fortunes of struggling teammate Declan Fraser<\/a> have taken much of the recent limelight, Ojeda has risen to the edge of a Finals Series berth.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old is now 12th in the standings and the clear standout of the five-strong rookie pack with six top 10 finishes in the last nine races.<\/p>\n

Townsville netted a ninth, an 11th and a 10th, which came from grid positions of ninth, 17th and 10th.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably a reflection of where we are at the moment,\u201d Dane told Speedcafe of Ojeda\u2019s run at the Reid Park street circuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got maybe a little bit better potential qualifying speed than we have race speed, but we\u2019re getting better at it all the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at it, even Triple Eight might have had a bad weekend, but they\u2019re still up there, along with Groves, one of the DJR cars, at least one of the Tickford cars, both the Walkinshaw cars\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit like looking at F1 at the moment where you\u2019ve got four big teams and then you\u2019ve got the midfield scrapping.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hate it, but that\u2019s how it feels that it is at the moment. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re miles away, but we\u2019ve got to try and take that next step.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou see that Anton [De Pasquale]\u2019s sometimes up there, sometimes not, it\u2019s very variable for all of us at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dane was brought into the PremiAir fold this season by its owner Peter Xiberras to lead the previously struggling operation to the front.<\/p>\n

The move ruffled feathers at Triple Eight, given Dane\u2019s appointment came just a year after cutting ties with the team he founded.<\/p>\n

Asked for his take on Triple Eight\u2019s struggles in Townsville, Dane said: \u201cIt\u2019s happened in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey still raced pretty well, but I was surprised they never really got on top of qualifying over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how the team operates anymore. I\u2019m not a part of it, so I can\u2019t say what\u2019s good or bad.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut there\u2019s two very good drivers and there\u2019s plenty of good people there, so I suspect they might sort it out. Time will tell.\u201d<\/p>\n
