If you thought we were done with the MasterChef <\/a>secret romance rumours, think again. While we\u2019re obsessed with the hit reality cooking show for many reasons \u2014 the talent, the friendship, the insane challenges \u2014 its wholesome nature probably takes the cake, and what\u2019s more wholesome than a love story?<\/p>\n

After guest judges Declan Cleary and Sarah Todd (and their twin babies)<\/a> sparked a cheeky comment from top five contestant<\/a> Annabel Lloyd <\/a>about a possible MasterChef love story brewing this season, fans were immediately invested.<\/p>\n

Fans initially suspected that Annabel and Vinnie<\/a> were together, but this was debunked after it was revealed that Vinnie is in a long-term relationship (with a partner who encouraged him to apply for the show). <\/p>\n

However, after some cheeky camera work and an even sneakier edit in post-production, viewers firmly set their sights on Alyona and Petro.<\/a><\/p>\n

Alyona spoke to WHO about the romance rumours<\/a>, saying she and Petro<\/a> \u201cbecame very close friends\u00a0during the competition\u201d and have \u201cstayed in close contact since\u201d.<\/p>\n

While her response wasn\u2019t exactly a yes, it also wasn\u2019t a no, either. <\/p>\n

Either way, as fans continue to search for more clues while Petro battles it out in the final days of the competition, WHO went to the next closest source to Petro himself, his MasterChef roommate and best friend, Luke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If anyone\u2019s going to know about Petro\u2019s secret romance, surely it\u2019s him. <\/p>\n

Luke\u2019s response to the rumours was coy, but telling<\/p>\n

When asked what he thought about the rumours of a brewing romance this season, Luke said that it\u2019s been \u201cquite funny listening to all of the rumours\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe take it as a compliment,\u201d he said. \u201cThe fact that there have been rumours [about a secret romance] just speaks to how close we all were<\/a>. But no, if there was a rumour, I would have no idea who it is [about].\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed about whether there was a romance between Alyona and Petro, Luke simply replied, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t know\u201d. <\/p>\n

While we respected his diplomatic answer, what we loved more was how he then went on to hype up his roommate \u2014 but not without throwing a jab in there too. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a lovely guy,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s probably the most eligible bachelor in Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what my dad said after [my elimination episode]?\u201d Luke confessed. \u201cHe said, \u2018There\u2019s one thing a girl likes, and it\u2019s a man who can cry.’\u201d <\/p>\n

Spot on, Mr Harris. <\/p>\n

Earlier in the season, Petro shed tears of joy during an immunity cook when he successfully prepared a complex charred corn ice cream and received positive feed back from the judges. <\/p>\n

However, Luke didn\u2019t dwell too long on Petro\u2019s redeeming qualities.<\/p>\n

When asked about some of the funny stories he collected of his roommate throughout the show, he did not hold back (in true best mate fashion). <\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what\u2019s funny about Petro? He gets self-proclaimed post-food depression,\u201d he said. \u201cWhere if he has a bad meal, he\u2019s in quite a bad mood.<\/p>\n

Luke and Petro\u2019s friendship is the true secret MasterChef romance<\/p>\n

After Luke\u2019s elimination, Petro posted a heartfelt message on Instagram in tribute to the young cook, ending his message with a very sweet sentiment: \u201cI know you might have four brothers, but you\u2019re my only one\u201d. <\/p>\n

Luke gushed about what this message meant to him, explaining they \u201cgot on like a house on fire\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI must say that post that he put up was a shock,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, obviously I\u2019ve had a lot of private messages and comments from people reaching out, but that probably takes the cake.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got along really well from day one, and it was funny\u2026 We would notice new things about perhaps the way we were \u2013 you know, different cultural backgrounds, different states, different ages \u2013 but everything we said about each other was like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s so funny, that\u2019s like me.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke added: \u201cThat\u2019s probably what got me so far, that people were willing to look out for me, which I really appreciate.\u201d<\/p>\n

This bond was also noticed by Luke\u2019s family. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think the best comment on [Petro\u2019s] post was my brother\u2019s,\u201d he said. \u201cHe said, \u2018My guy, thanks for taking care of the youngest bro for us. We love you king.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought that was a very sweet message and that summarised a lot of the competition and that a lot of the contestants looked after me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, now we\u2019re tearing up! <\/p>\n

It turns out that in our search for answers to the MasterChef secret romance rumours, maybe the real love story is between Luke and Petro.<\/p>\n
