Thursday, July 23 brought three franchise relaunches within hours of each other: Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres on HBO Max with Kevin Sussman reprising Stuart Bloom from The Big Bang Theory, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns for a 10-episode Season 4 on Paramount+, and Netflix drops all eight episodes of Ransom Canyon Season 2 with Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. No coordination was announced between the three platforms, just a calendar coincidence that says plenty about how crowded Thursday nights have become.

Somebody at the streaming networks must have compared calendars and shrugged. HBO Max, Paramount+ and Netflix all decided that Thursday, July 23, 2026, was the day to relaunch three unrelated properties on the same night. Stuart Bloom gets his own comic-book-tinged spinoff on HBO Max, Captain Pike’s crew returns for a fourth voyage on Paramount+’s Strange New Worlds, and the Double K Ranch reopens its gates on Netflix with Ransom Canyon’s second season. None of it was coordinated, yet the overlap says plenty about how crowded and reflexive the streaming calendar has become.

Streaming calendars rarely line up this neatly. Today, July 23, 2026, three services launch new seasons from three very different franchises within hours of each other: a Big Bang Theory spinoff on HBO Max, a Star Trek flagship on Paramount+, and a western romance on Netflix. Pure scheduling coincidence, and a crowded evening for anyone juggling multiple subscriptions.

Stuart finally gets the spotlight on HBO Max

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max, with Kevin Sussman reprising his role as comic book store owner Stuart Bloom. Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus and John Ross Bowie also return as Bert, Denise and Barry Kripke. This is the fourth show in the Big Bang Theory universe, after the mothership, Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, created by Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Zak Penn. The 10-episode season rolls out weekly, and the trailer sets the tone: “I think there’s room for improvement,” Bert deadpans.

Strange New Worlds opens its last full-length season

Also today, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 arrives on Paramount+, a centerpiece of the franchise’s 60th anniversary year. Anson Mount returns as Captain Pike, joined by Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock and Paul Wesley as a young James T. Kirk. These 10 episodes are the show’s last at that count before a shortened, six-episode fifth and final season. Paramount+ has kept the franchise busy in 2026: Starfleet Academy, with Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti, premiered back on January 15.

Ransom Canyon bets on the binge
