Developed as a hands-free alternative to wearable action cameras, drones, and stationary tripods, the robotic companion moves alongside its subject to capture outdoor activities without requiring a dedicated camera operator.

The integrated camera records video in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, 3K at 60 frames per second, and 1080p at up to 100 frames per second for slow-motion sequences. On-device tracking keeps the selected subject within the frame without relying on an internet connection, allowing the robot to operate across trails, parks, streets, and other open environments.

the robot captures outdoor action from a ground-level perspective | all images courtesy of Mondo Robotics

MULTIPLE AUTONOMOUS TRACKING MODES

Beni incorporates several tracking modes that alter its position in relation to the person or animal being filmed. Tail mode follows from behind, side mode moves parallel to the subject, and circle mode travels around them to generate more dynamic footage. A magnetic Motion Tracker can also be worn or attached to an object to help guide the robot during fast-moving activities.

To reduce camera shake as it travels over uneven surfaces, Mondo Robotics has developed a stabilization system called HybridFlow. The technology combines the movement of the robot with digital image processing to produce smoother footage while maintaining the low viewpoint that distinguishes Beni from aerial cameras and conventional handheld devices.

its integrated camera records stabilized footage during fast-moving outdoor activities

BUILT TO CROSS OUTDOOR TERRAIN

Weighing approximately 1.75 kilograms, the camera robot can reach a maximum speed of 28.8 kilometers per hour. Its chassis is designed to navigate irregular outdoor surfaces, avoid obstacles, and cross barriers measuring up to 25 centimeters in height. The robot can also return to an upright position when overturned, enabling it to continue filming after falls or collisions. A live-view function allows users to see the camera’s perspective while Beni is moving, while a handheld motion controller enables manual operation when autonomous tracking is not required.

Beni is currently being offered through a Kickstarter campaign, with different bundles combining the robot, Motion Tracker, controller, spare batteries, and accessories. Mondo Robotics states that its working prototypes have been completed as it prepares for manufacturing, certification, and international distribution. As with any crowdfunded hardware project, delivery schedules, final specifications, and production plans may change as the product moves toward mass production.

Beni reaches speeds of up to 28.8 kilometers per hour while following its subject

A GROUND-BASED ALTERNATIVE TO ACTION CAMERAS Mondo Robotics introduces Beni, a compact all-terrain camera robot designed to…

[6
89550,201907,42638,111,139,69,11393,145
post-541568","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-camera-design","tag-drone-technology-and-design","tag-kickstarter","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-robots","tag-technology
["GET
