The Cowboys have been dealt a blow on the eve of the Queensland derby with\u00a0Tom Dearden\u00a0ruled out with a leg injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The halfback only made his return from a serious ankle injury last weekend, but he has picked up another ankle injury, this time to the other leg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While the Cowboys are yet to confirm Dearden’s replacement, it’s likely centre Jaxon Purdue will shift back to the halves. Liam Sutton is also in the reserves and could come into the side if Todd Payten opts for a like-for-like replacement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The loss of David Fifita to suspension and Cameron Murray and Tallis Duncan to injury has forced the Rabbitohs into a major reshuffle ahead of their crucial clash with the Storm.<\/p>\n

Goalkicking centre Latrell Siegwalt lines up for his career seventh game while Lachlan Hubner starts at lock and Liam Le Blanc is also set for a call-up.<\/p>\n

His place is taken by Englishman Matty Nicholson in his first appearance of 2026 after shoulder surgery. Vena Patuki-Case is the new man on the bench. With Owen Pattie serving a one-game suspension, Tom Starling starts the game at hooker and Jayden Brailey joins the bench. The loss of Hudson Young to a season-ending Achilles injury sees Zac Hosking slide to second row and Morgan Smithies line up at lock.<\/p>\n

Wests Tigers: A day of drama for the Tigers on Thursday with Adam Doueihi ruling himself out of the match after a run-in with coach Benji Marshall at training. Jock Madden suffered an injury at training and the Tigers were granted an exemption from the NRL to bring Heath Mason onto the six-man bench. Young gun Javon Andrews will make his NRL debut at halfback in Doueihi’s absence. All this on top of Latu Fainu being found guilty of a Grade 3 Dangerous Contact charge at the judiciary on Tuesday night and copping a three-game ban.
