Lou Koller, the longtime frontman of punk rock band<\/a> Sick of It All has died<\/a> following a two-year battle with esophageal cancer<\/a>. He was 59. <\/p>\n

His bandmates<\/a>, including brother Peter Koller, Amrmand Majiji and Craig Setari, confirmed the news in a joint statement<\/a> shared on Instagram<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller,\u201d\u00a0they began. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming.\u201d <\/p>\n

They shared that this year marks Sick of it All\u2019s 40th anniversary as a band and honoured Koller\u2019s \u201ccamaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm\u201d throughout the decades. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman.<\/p>\n

\u201cLou had the power to raise everyone\u2019s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite their \u201cintense grief\u201d the band thanked all those who supported and donated to Koller\u2019s medical fund as he battled cancer. <\/p>\n

They concluded the tribute with this parting message: \u201cHis battle is over now and he can finally rest. Hopefully he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.\u201d <\/p>\n

Koller revealed in June 2024 that he was suffering from cancer of the esophagus which extended into his stomach. His illness forced the band to cancel a European tour while he underwent treatment.<\/p>\n

Koller had announced in May 2025 that he was cancer-free after a final round of chemotherapy, sadly the disease returned months later. <\/p>\n

Koller and his brother formed Sick of It All alongside drummer\u00a0Majidi\u00a0in Queens, New York<\/a>, in 1986. <\/p>\n

Three years later, the group released its 1989 debut\u00a0Blood, Sweat and No Tears\u00a0before bassist Setari the band\u2019s bassist joined in 1993.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
