Feeney and Schumacher (#1 Audi) found redemption after a spin-affected Race 1 to comfortably win Race 2 on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
The win sees the reigning champions vault back into the championship lead moving on to the penultimate round.<\/p>\n
Schumacher led home the #88 Team BRM Audi of Steve Brooks by 7.03s in a moment of \u2018what could\u2019ve been\u2019 for Brooks and co-driver Ryan Wood.<\/p>\n
Zagame Autosport\u2019s Josh Buchan and Cameron Campbell (#23 Ferrari) held on to take their first GTWC podium.<\/p>\n
The final podium step is subject to a post-race investigation for an incident at Turn 1 on the opening lap.<\/p>\n
Alex Peroni\/Mark Rosser (#268 Audi) came home in fourth, also pending a post-race investigation for a late incident with the #2 Team MPC Audi of Darren Currie\/Valentino Astuti, who rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n
The Peroni\/Rosser entry was ultimately handed a five second penally, dropping them to seventh.<\/p>\n
Buchan and Wood each got away to a slow start when the lights went out, which compressed the field.<\/p>\n
Alex Peroni and Brendon Leitch were among those that surged forwards on the long run towards Turn 1, where chaos erupted for the second time in as many days.<\/p>\n
Buchan appeared to climb the kerb, bouncing into Wood and forcing the Audi wide.<\/p>\n
Simultaneously, Leitch was tagged and spun, plummeting to the back of the field.<\/p>\n
Buchan bolted, building a gap of over three seconds back to Feeney, further lowering the lap record set on Saturday by Wood.<\/p>\n
Wood set about a comeback drive, carving his way back through the field in the opening laps.<\/p>\n
Within 20 minutes, the Kiwi had worked his way back into the top five, running within 10 seconds of the lead<\/p>\n
Only a handful of laps later, Wood worked his way past Astuti\u2019s Team MPC Audi for fourth spot.<\/p>\n
Wood was able to hand the car over to Brooks in third position, as Peroni and Rosser\u2019s 15 second success penalty for the Race 1 win dropped them to fifth.<\/p>\n
Schumacher took control of the #1 Team MPC Audi and emerged on the bumper of the Zagame Autosport Ferrari.<\/p>\n
Campbell set about a mammoth defensive effort to hold the lead, allowing Brooks to reel in the leaders in the laps after the compulsory pit stop.<\/p>\n
With pressure being applied by the fast-charging Brooks, Schumacher ran wide on the exit of Turn 5, allowing Campbell a brief reprieve.<\/p>\n
Schumacher caught back up within a handful of laps, eventually taking the lead at Turn 1 with just over 10 minutes remaining on the clock.<\/p>\n
Just three laps later, Campbell relinquished second position to Brooks.<\/p>\n
Trouble continued for several mid-pack runners, starting with Elliott Schutte running wide through the Turn 10-11 complex, narrowly avoiding the wall.<\/p>\n
Rosser and Currie then came together at Turn 1, resulting in a post-race investigation.<\/p>\n
Having entered the event in the championship lead, Brendon Leitch\/Sergio Pires (#44 Mercedes) finished fifth, bouncing back from a tough start to salvage crucial points.<\/p>\n
Jaxon Evans and Schutte were also left to rue what could\u2019ve been with a tough weekend, bringing the #26 ARGT Ferrari home in sixth.<\/p>\n
Will Davison\/Renee Gracie (#181 Ferrari) bounced back from a tough qualifying to finish eighth, ahead of Garnet Patterson\/JP Drake (#666 Audi), with Oscar Targett\/Shane Smollen (#56 Mercedes) rounding out the top 10.<\/p>\n
Luke Youlden\/Nathan Halstead (#71 Porsche took the Trophy Class honours in 12th outright.<\/p>\n
