Pamela Anderson has addressed whether she could return for Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot, and the answer appears to be a firm no.

The actress became one of television’s biggest stars thanks to her role as lifeguard C.J. Parker on Baywatch, appearing on the hit series from 1992 to 1997. Alongside David Hasselhoff, Anderson helped transform the beach drama into a global phenomenon that remains one of the most recognizable TV franchises of all time. Now, Fox and Fremantle are preparing to bring Baywatch back to television with a new reboot series that is expected to premiere in 2027.

As anticipation builds for the new version, many have wondered whether Anderson would reprise her iconic role. However, in a recent interview with Deadline, the actress revealed that she has no plans to return to the franchise. Anderson explained that nobody involved with the reboot has contacted her about appearing in the series and indicated that her focus remains on pursuing new creative opportunities rather than revisiting past successes. Read her comments below:

No one’s reached out to me. I don’t know much about it. I know that they were talking to my sons at some point about producing, but I don’t think they had a meeting of the minds. I’m not sure what happened there, but I wish them well. It was a great job, and I loved going to work every day on the beach. I would have been there anyway. [Laughs] At the time, it taught me a lot, and it gave me worldwide exposure. Everything I’ve done has led me to here, which is a blessing. But I have no plans of going back to Baywatch.

If my kids were involved, I probably would have listened to them. I think I’ve just got to keep on seeing what else is out there. I get that there’s a lot of really great TV out there right now, but I’ve already done that. Now is my time to really play with different characters. I don’t want to just fill my time until the end of the year. I have options, and some things I’m thinking about, including some theater again. I want to make really bold choices. I want to surprise people. I want to surprise myself. And so I’m trying to do things I haven’t done in the past.

The actor has been vocal about embracing projects that challenge expectations rather than relying on nostalgia. While many stars have returned to beloved franchises in recent years, Anderson appears determined to chart a different path.

Anderson’s comments come during a major career resurgence for the actress, who has spent the last several years redefining her public image. After receiving widespread acclaim for her 2023 Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story and memoir Love, Pamela, she earned some of the strongest reviews of her career for Gia Coppola’s drama The Last Showgirl.

The performance introduced Anderson to a new generation of viewers and demonstrated her range beyond the role that made her famous. While many stars have returned to beloved franchises in recent years, Anderson appears determined to chart a different path. Her latest comments suggest that she sees this stage of her career as an opportunity to explore new creative avenues, whether in film, television, or theater, instead of revisiting characters audiences already know.

Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot has been in development for some time and is expected to serve as a modern reimagining of the iconic series. The original show debuted in 1989 and went on to become one of the most-watched television programs in the world, airing in more than 140 countries at its peak.

The upcoming series will reportedly center on an adult Hobie Buchannon, the son of Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannon, with Arrow star Stephen Amell leading the cast. Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, Noah Beck, and Livvy Dunne are among the new additions, while original stars David Chokachi, Kelly Packard, Michael Bergin, and Erika Eleniak are set to reprise their roles.

The franchise has attempted to return before, most notably with the 2017 Baywatch movie adaptation starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. While that film struggled with critics and underperformed at the box office, the enduring popularity of the Baywatch brand has kept it an attractive property for studios.

Although Anderson’s comments end speculation about a C.J. Parker comeback, they also highlight how much her career has evolved in recent years. Following a widely praised resurgence that has earned her newfound critical recognition, the actress appears more interested in building on that momentum than revisiting one of her most famous characters.

For fans hoping to see Anderson back in the iconic red swimsuit, the door does not appear completely shut, but her latest comments suggest that a return to Baywatch is not currently part of her plans.
