If things seem a little quiet on the British royals news<\/a> front, you\u2019re not imagining it: the family\u2019s annual break is underway.<\/p>\n

Each year, King Charles<\/a> and Queen Camilla<\/a> head up to Balmoral<\/a>, the royals\u2019 Scottish residence, to spend the summer, where they\u2019re joined by members of the family. For the second year running, at least one notable absence is expected.<\/p>\n

Per The Times<\/a>, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a> is \u201cnot expected\u201d to score an invitation to Balmoral from his big brother, as the fallout of his personal ties to Jeffrey Epstein and his arrest in February<\/a> continues.<\/p>\n

The publication reports the King has \u201cno plans\u201d for the former Duke of York to join him for during the break, and that Andrew appearing alongside the rest of the family would raise \u201cconsiderable sensitivities\u201d.<\/p>\n

Andrew now lives on the royal family\u2019s Norfolk estate, Sandringham, having moved into a five-bedroom farmhouse called Marsh Farm in April following his eviction from Royal Lodge in Windsor weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

The report comes days after the formal closure of Andrew\u2019s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson\u2019s charity.<\/p>\n

Sarah\u2019s Trust, which was dedicated to \u201csupporting frontline, grassroots work to address the humanitarian and environmental crisis, the hunger crisis and issues perpetuating cycles of extreme poverty\u201d, is marked as \u2018removed\u2019 on the public register of charities, the BBC reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following new details about Ferguson\u2019s personal ties to and contact with Epstein, Sarah\u2019s Trust, which had been in operation since 2020, said in February that it would close \u201cfor the forseeable future\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain extremely proud of the work of the trust over recent years,\u201d the charity said in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n

King Charles and Queen Camilla are already in Balmoral for the summer, and made a special appearance at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony<\/a> in Glasgow last week. <\/p>\n

A video skit showed the couple being \u2018collected\u2019 from the estate in Doctor Who\u2019s TARDIS as it flew through Scotland before materialising on stage at The Hydro stadium. Charles and Camilla then emerged<\/a> to cheers from the crowd.<\/p>\n

The public doesn\u2019t tend to hear much from the royals during their holiday, and their public appearances and engagements are dramatically scaled back.<\/p>\n

However, one thing is for sure: some eyebrow-raising headlines will emerge nevertheless.<\/p>\n

In fact, the holiday period has come to be known as \u2018Silly Season\u2019<\/a> due to the ridiculous royal (and general news) stories that are published in the UK media during the hiatus.<\/p>\n

The nickname has a long history; the first known reference to \u2018Silly Season\u2019 was in an article published in the\u00a0Saturday Review, a London weekly newspaper established in 1855.\u00a0<\/p>\n
