We\u2019ve now entered the month of Halloween, with spooky season officially upon us. I don\u2019t know about you, but October is my favorite month of the year, as Halloween is basically my version of \u201cThe Holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n
For some reason, the moon (particularly the full moon)\u2019s association with Halloween just makes sense. There\u2019s nothing like a glowing celestial object in the night sky to set the ominous tone.<\/p>\n
For the first of the month, today\u2019s moon phase is the waxing gibbous moon. This phase occurs directly before the full moon, when the moon is gaining illumination from the sun. During this phase, the moon grows from 50% to 100% illumination, appearing larger and fuller in the sky each night. The waxing gibbous will last around seven days.<\/p>\n

However, by late evening, it will move into the air sign of Aquarius.<\/p>\n During the waxing gibbous phase, the moon goes from having 50% illumination from the sun to 100%, which is the percentage of the moon highlighted by the sun\u2019s light. Each day, the moon appears fuller and brighter.\u00a0<\/p>\n The current moon is almost nine days old. For reference, the entire lunar cycle lasts for around 29.5 days.\u00a0<\/p>\n What Is the Waxing Gibbous Moon Phase?<\/p>\n The waxing gibbous phase is the fourth phase of the lunar cycle, occurring between the first quarter and the full moon. It typically lasts for around seven days.
