The Stay with Me hitmaker has relocated from Britain to New York and adores life in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing in New York, I\u2019m not the only freak on the street.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m surrounded daily by people that are too much. And I mean too much as a compliment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite having dreamed of being a pop star since they were a child, Smith \u201cstruggles\u201d with performing because singing is so \u201cpersonal\u201d to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really struggle. Singing for me is an incredibly personal thing. You don\u2019t hear me singing unless I have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Smith has found the best way to ease stage fright is to think about the vast nature of the universe.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow big the world is, how high the moon is. How small I am, and how small this room is that I\u2019m performing in, even if it\u2019s an arena. I look down on it from above and remind myself that this is okay, and I\u2019m safe,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
Smith recently admitted they are feeling \u201cmaternal\u201d and \u201chungry\u201d to have children.<\/p>\n
Discussing new single Oh Mother, they told BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show host Sara Cox: \u201cIn this song, I was just trying to access my mum\u2019s fury and protection that comes to save the day when a child gets hurt or heartbroken.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I\u2019m getting older, I feel like I\u2019m becoming more maternal, and more definitely hungry one day to have children myself and things like that.<\/p>\n
