\n\tKim Kardashian<\/a> and Kris Jenner<\/a> sued R&B singer Ray J<\/a> on Wednesday, alleging he defamed them when he claimed they were under a federal RICO investigation.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe lawsuit alleges that Ray J has attempted to exploit the Kardashians\u2019 fame ever since a \u201cfleeting relationship\u201d with Kim that ended 20 years ago.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe suit alleges that Ray J first floated the idea that the Kardashians should be criminally investigated on a TMZ special in May, when he said that racketeering charges would be \u201cappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe revisited the topic on a Sept. 24 livestream, when he said, \u201cThe federal RICO I\u2019m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy,\u201d and \u201cthe feds is coming,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cRay J\u2019s public statements are blatantly false,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cNo such federal investigation exists\u2026 Ray J\u2019s conduct represents an egregious abuse of social media and public platforms to weaponize lies about nonexistent criminal investigations while fully aware that such allegations, even when baseless, carry the power to damage Plaintiffs\u2019 livelihoods and hard-earned reputations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe suit alleges that the recent comments fit a pattern of sensationalized and inflammatory comments from Ray J over the years. <\/p>\n

\n\tTo qualify as defamation, Ray J\u2019s statements would have to go beyond merely hostile opinions and instead assert a provably false statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe suit alleges that Ray J\u2019s comments on the livestream were intended as \u201cfactual assertions,\u201d and not his speculation.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the complaint, he is quoted as saying \u201cThe feds is coming, there\u2019s nothing I can do about it,\u201d and \u201cAnybody that is cool with Kim, they need to tell her now, the rain is coming, the feds is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also said, \u201cIt\u2019s worse than Diddy,\u201d referencing the federal trafficking and RICO charges against Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs.<\/p>\n

\n\tHis comments were picked up by TMZ<\/a>. As a result, the lawsuit states, the Kardashians have \u201cbeen at the center of a media storm speculating as to their alleged criminal behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKardashian and Jenner are represented by Alex Spiro, who has handled several other celebrity cases.<\/p>\n
