The Prince and Princess of Wales took their three children<\/a> on a fun-filled family outing to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday (August 1). Prince George<\/a>, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis<\/a>, eight, were spotted cheering on athletes, high-fiving the mascot and meeting competitors.<\/p>\n

The event marked the young royals’ first public appearance in Scotland, as well as Prince Louis\u2019s debut at a major sporting event<\/a>. It was an action-packed day for the family at Glasgow 2026, where they caught the netball, track, cycling and judo – with the kids later sharing which events they loved most. Their day kicked off at the Hydro with a nail-biting netball semi-final, where Jamaica edged out Australia by a single point.<\/p>\n

The sunshine briefly made an appearance as they were greeted by a line-up of 20 volunteers, and cheered on by the huge crowds gathered outside the gates as word spread that the royals would be heading outside. The family of five then travelled to the velodrome, where they watched the action alongside Sir Chris Hoy<\/a>, Laura Kenny and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh before heading to watch the Judo.<\/p>\n

On the final stop of their busy day at the Commonwealth Games, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children popped into Wales House in the centre of Glasgow.<\/p>\n

William and Catherine led their children over to speak to identical twin gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper, who won bronze medals within an hour of each other earlier in the week. They chatted with the athletes and their proud parents for over five minutes, asking about their achievements and how they prepared for the Games.<\/p>\n

Catherine asked: \u201cAnd what are you doing? As Charlotte<\/a> was asking, are you doing a lot of stretching and conditioning?\u201d<\/p>\n

They nodded and said they do a mix of both to ensure they are strong and flexible. The future Queen then turned to her youngest and said, \u201cLouis, you\u2019re perfecting your handstand at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dA bit,\u201d he said, with his arms crossed, \u201cBut Charlotte says I\u2019m not very good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Roper twins then asked if Charlotte could do one, and she said, \u201cYeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

When they asked George the same question, he and Catherine laughed as the young prince told them, \u201cI\u2019m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlotte then told them that her favourite part of gymnastics is the floor, with her mum adding: \u201cCharlotte likes her dancing”. Overhearing the conversation, William said: \u201cShe loves gymnastics and ballet<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having already learned that the young princess enjoys the sport, the Welsh gymnasts presented her with a Team Wales leotard signed by the athletes.<\/p>\n

William, George, Charlotte and Louis then sat down with Para-athletes Aled Davies and Olivia Breen, and 400m runner Charlotte Henrich, while mum Catherine stayed talking to the gymnasts. The children were involved in the conversation, with Louis revealing that he had recently participated in his first school sports day and George telling them that his favourite event is the javelin.<\/p>\n

Joining them at the table, Catherine was told, \u201cLouis was saying he likes high jump.\u201d<\/p>\n

She turns to her son and asks, \u201cLouis, you like high jump?\u201d<\/p>\n
