Police have launched an investigation after a man self-presented at a North Shore hospital with an \u201cunexplained gunshot wound\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie of the Waitemat\u0101 Criminal Investigative Branch confirmed investigations were underway into a firearms incident in Hillcrest after a person was shot last night.<\/p>\n

Officers were alerted to the incident at about 11.45pm when a man self-presented at an unnamed hospital \u201cwith an unexplained gunshot wound\u201d, Goldie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe received a serious injury and remains in hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n
