\u201cWhen we moved here, our dream was simple: to spend around five wonderful years in Queenstown before slowing down and enjoying a semi-retired life.<\/p>\n
\u201cLife, however, had other plans. Covid, long periods of closure, and the challenging economy meant that our five-year plan became eight years.\u201d<\/p>\n
The owners thanked customers, staff, suppliers and supporters who had backed the restaurant over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery guest who dined with us in Christchurch, Auckland and Queenstown\u2026 Every member of our amazing team, past and present\u2026 Every supplier, friend and supporter who helped us along the way\u2026 We truly could never have done this without you.\u201d<\/p>\n
After closing the restaurant, Yoko and Koichi said they planned to return to Japan for the first time since moving to Queenstown.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe haven\u2019t returned to Japan once during our eight years in Queenstown, so we\u2019re excited to spend time with our family and friends, travel around Japan, and simply enjoy life at a slower pace.\u201d<\/p>\n
They said they were leaving with \u201cnothing but gratitude\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hearts are full, and we leave with nothing but gratitude. We couldn\u2019t have imagined a better way to finish this journey – with grateful hearts, wonderful memories, and the excitement of beginning a new chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The owners encouraged customers wanting a final meal to book ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe still have one month to go, and we\u2019ll be here doing what we love until the very last service.<\/p>\n
