Practical Magic 2 is a month away from releasing, but some lucky fans got to see it weeks in advance over the weekend at a surprise screening introduced by none other than Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.

The duo reprise their roles as witchy sisters Sally and Gillian Owens from the 1998 original film, with Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also returning, and Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod joining them.

As the hype builds up for the sequel, fans in Los Angeles attended a screening of the first film. Or at least that’s what they thought it was…

Before the film started, Bullock and Kidman stepped out with (midnight) margaritas in hand to unveil a worldwide premiere.

“Okay so I’m really excited because we are going into a theatre right now, where the people in the theatre think that they’re going to see the original Practical Magic, but we’re actually gonna surprise them.

“They’ll be the first audience to see the new Practical Magic: Practical Magic 2”, Bullock said in an Instagram video.

Soundtracked by Harry Nilsson’s ‘Coconut’, the rest of the video showed Bullock clinking margarita glasses with fans before sitting down with Kidman in the middle of the front row.

In Kidman’s video, Bullock told the audience: “We can’t wait to show you Practical Magic 2 so much so that… here it is!” before the title card changed and the audience erupted into cheers.

Kidman referenced her (in)famous AMC ad in the caption, writing: “We come to this place for (practical) magic…”

Not every cast member from the original is back for the sequel, as Evan Rachel Wood recently stated that she wasn’t asked.

“I’m sad that that doesn’t get to exist, especially for the fans but I wish them the best and obviously, I wish Joey all the best and I hope she had a great time”, the actor said.

Practical Magic 2 is released in cinemas on 11 September.
