If you’re a fan of Suits and The Lincoln Lawyer then we have terrific news, as ITV has acquired the UK broadcasting rights for a popular legal thriller that premiered across the Atlantic way back in August 2025.<\/p>\n

The Rainmaker is an adaptation of John Grisham’s 1995 novel of the same name, which had previously been brought to the big screen just two years after its publication by legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.<\/p>\n

The television adaptation sees Milo Callaghan portray Rudy Baylor, a hotshot lawyer who joins a small organisation after being fired. In his new role, he uncovers a dark conspiracy, and has to battle against his former employers in court.<\/p>\n

Developed by Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman, the legal drama premiered in the US on USA Network in August 2025, but it is finally coming to the UK next month after ITV acquired the rights.<\/p>\n

The series will premiere in the UK on 4 September with a double-bill starting at 9pm on ITV1, with the remaining eight instalments airing weekly. If you can’t wait that long, then all 10 parts will be immediately available to stream<\/a> on ITVX on the same date.<\/p>\n

In addition to Callaghan, the stacked cast for the series includes Lana Parrilla, John Slattery, Madison Iseman, PJ Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara. Jason Blum, the CEO of Blumhouse Productions, serves as an executive producer.<\/p>\n

The series garnered mixed reviews from critics, who likened it to fellow legal dramas Suits and The Lincoln Lawyer. On Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, The Rainmaker has an approval rating of 58% from 26 reviews, though its audience score is markedly higher at 84%.<\/p>\n

“If you enjoy The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, there’s every reason to think you’ll like The Rainmaker too. Both have that ‘blue-sky’ energy: light but not fluffy, clever without overreaching, and entirely satisfying,” noted Pajiba<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The Rainmaker is a healthy balance of Suits and The Lincoln Lawyer that does an incredible job of balancing the drama in and out of the courtroom,” opined FandomWire<\/a>, while The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> praised its “lightly surprising plot twists”.<\/p>\n

The future of the series is already secure, with USA Network renewing the legal drama for a second season back in October. In a statement (via Deadline<\/a>), Val Boreland, President of Entertainment at Versant, teased that the next chapter would be “compelling”.<\/p>\n

The Rainmaker is coming to ITV1 and ITVX on 4 September.<\/p>\n
