If you fancy watching an acclaimed British period drama based on a classic novel, then BBC iPlayer is the place to go as Pride & Prejudice is currently streaming<\/a>. But you’ll have to hurry, as the listing is due to expire very soon!<\/p>\n

The 2005 film<\/a> is based on Jane Austen’s legendary 1813 novel of the same name, with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen playing the iconic lead roles of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy.<\/p>\n

Written by Deborah Moggach and directed by Joe Wright, the period drama boasts a stacked supporting cast including Brenda Blethyn, Donald Sutherland, Rosamund Pike, Tom Hollander, Judi Dench, Penelope Wilton, Carey Mulligan and Kelly Reilly.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, the popular adaptation of Austen’s work is currently available to stream in the UK via BBC iPlayer<\/a>, but you only have a few days to view it before the listing expires on 11 August. <\/p>\n

Upon its release<\/a>, Pride & Prejudice was a success at the box office, as it grossed $129 million worldwide against a budget of $28 million. Furthermore, it received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Knightley.<\/p>\n

On Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, the period drama has an impressive approval rating of 87% from 189 reviews, while the audience score is even higher at 90%. On IMDb<\/a>, the average user rating is 7.8\/10 from 381,000 logs.<\/p>\n

“In fact, credit has to be given to Mr Wright for the exquisite treatment he and his cinematographer, Roman Osin, has given the finished product,” wrote one user on IMDb<\/a>, who described the film as “wonderful”.<\/p>\n

“The film is certainly handsome looking, with some truly beautiful locations and costumes, with a nice script and some excellent performances from Keira Knightley as Lizzie and in particular Judi Dench as Lady Catherine,” opined another viewer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A third user was also full of praise, writing<\/a>: “The photography, the art direction and the spectacular supporting cast, in particular Donald Sutherland and Brenda Blethyn, makes this new version of a perennial classic a memorable evening.”<\/p>\n

Austen’s novel is being adapted once again<\/a>, though this time it’s for the small screen as Netflix is producing a television series. Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden are in the lead roles, while Olivia Colman, Fiona Shaw and Louis Partridge are also set to star.<\/p>\n
