Bangladesh exported approximately $*.** billion of ready-made garments in July, down from $*.** billion a year earlier. The sector still generated roughly **.* per cent of the country**;s $*.** billion merchandise exports, which slipped *.** per cent year on year but reached a **-month high.<\/p>\n
The shift from June**;s **.** per cent growth to July**;s *.** per cent contraction equals a **.**-percentage-point swing. Yet the two comparisons were unusually distorted in opposite directions.<\/p>\n
June **** included a ten-day Eid-ul-Adha holiday, depressing RMG exports to $*.** billion. June ******;s $*.** billion result therefore reflected a return to a normal monthly range rather than a structural demand breakthrough, according to BGMEA. July faced a tougher base: July **** exports had jumped **.** per cent to $*.** billion.<\/p>\n
