\n Ms Medhurst has been a mental health worker for close to 20 years and spoke about the importance of art to her.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s definitely improved my mental health.\n<\/p>\n
\n “With all my illness, it\u2019s helped me through,” she added.\n<\/p>\n
\n “You’re focusing on something else rather than negative stuff; I suggest art groups to everyone.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Several of Ms Medhurst\u2019s pieces can be found around Bolton Town, notably a sculpture of Ye Olde Pastie Shop, which can now be found in the window of the historic landmark, as well as Pigeon Tower, which was given to them.\n<\/p>\n
\n Medhurst said that being Boltonian and sharing Bolton\u2019s history is vital to her art.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We shouldn\u2019t forget where we came from,” she said.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I love it [Bolton]; this is why I do it; I don\u2019t want people to just forget these buildings; even if I won the lottery, I would not leave Bolton.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Ms Medhurst started her journey into sculpting with the group Art for Wellness, a group that currently does not have a home after being forced to leave their old space.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I\u2019ve been every single week apart from having a brain tumour out.”\n<\/p>\n
\n She has now begun work on her next project, Le Man\u2019s Crescent, saying she is “a third” of the way done.\n<\/p>\n
\n She also revealed her plans once that\u2019s complete.\n<\/p>\n
\n “In my phone, I have a list of future buildings, and there’s one that I really want to make as it\u2019s gone from local to worldwide, and that is Warburton\u2019s Corner Shop Grocers.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It was actually a little grocers shop on the corner of Blackburn Road, and they started baking\u2014look at Warby\u2019s now.”\n<\/p>\n
\n After the months of work, Medhurst expressed her desire to see the Town Hall sculpture on display.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s what I\u2019m doing them for (people to see them), the response I\u2019ve had, especially from older people, it\u2019s all their memories.”\n<\/p>\n
