An overnight network update was to blame for as many as 30,000 internet connections cutting out in different parts of Auckland.<\/p>\n
RNZ readers on the North Shore, Hibiscus Coast and Papatoetoe have all reported issues with internet.<\/p>\n
A Chorus map showed several outages dotted across the Auckland region including the North Shore areas of Albany, Redvale, Long Bay and Rosedale. Browns Bay and Milford were also affected.<\/p>\n
About midday on Tuesday, a Chorus spokesperson said the network outages had been resolved and customers should be reconnected shortly.<\/p>\n
“Initial assessment indicates the outage followed a planned overnight network update.<\/p>\n
“We apologise for this service interruption and thank customers for their patience as we worked through this.”<\/p>\n
Downdetector showed a spike in outage reports from Spark, One NZ, 2degrees and Slingshot users – among others – shortly before 9am.<\/p>\n
