Pitt quit drinking after his separation from Jolie, following a private-plane incident in 2016 that marked a turning point in their relationship. Jolie later accused Pitt of abusive behaviour during the flight involving her and their children, allegations Pitt has denied or disputed.<\/p>\n
In 2017, Pitt told GQ he had to \u201cstep away\u201d from alcohol, famously remarking that he could previously \u201cdrink a Russian under the table with his own vodka\u201d. <\/p>\n
He later credited actor Bradley Cooper<\/a> for helping him get sober and spoke about attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.<\/p>\n Pitt described his current approach to alcohol as \u201cmore restrained\u201d, explaining that while he can now have \u201ca few glasses of wine\u201d, he remains cautious because he \u201ccan\u2019t have a lot\u201d and must remain professional. He admitted to becoming \u201coverconfident\u201d a couple of times before realising that large quantities were \u201cnot good for me\u201d.<\/p>\n His admission came after he was photographed drinking at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce\u2019s celebrity-filled wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden in July. Page Six reported that some guests were surprised to see the Oscar winner drinking after years of sobriety.<\/p>\n In the interview with Esquire UK, Pitt reflected on the \u201coppressive\u201d pain he felt during the \u201cfamily stuff\u201d following the 2016 split. He said there was a brief period where he felt \u201csuicidal\u201d<\/a> because he \u201cdidn\u2019t see a way out\u201d, though he noted that his survival instincts eventually kicked in.<\/p>\n The news of his return to drinking comes amid ongoing legal battles with Jolie<\/a> over their French winery, Chateau Miraval, and reports that several of his children have legally dropped \u201cPitt\u201d<\/a> from their surnames.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cShe doesn\u2019t believe Brad has fundamentally changed.
