Viral footage showed supporters packed around the building, with some trying to peer inside as rumours spread that Ronaldo\u2019s \u201csecret ceremony\u201d was taking place.<\/p>\n
The frenzy turned out to be completely wrong.<\/p>\n
The couple actually getting married was Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, a French pair with Madeira roots, who reportedly had to push through the crowds to reach their own wedding.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo\u2019s sister Katia Aveiro unintentionally helped fuel the speculation after posting about arriving on the island for a \u201cparty,\u201d sending fans into overdrive.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo later reacted to a local news report about the mix-up by leaving five crying-laughing emojis on Instagram.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo and Georgina got engaged in 2025, and he previously suggested they would marry after the World Cup, which ended on July 19.<\/p>\n
He told Piers Morgan last November: \u201cWe don\u2019t have a date yet [for the wedding], but we plan to do it after the World Cup, with the trophy. We didn\u2019t plan that [the venue] because she\u2019s not someone who likes big parties. She likes private things, and I will respect that\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, Portugal didn\u2019t win the tournament, with Spain taking the trophy.<\/p>\n
The couple announced their engagement in August 2025, with Georgina sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram and captioning it: \u201cYes I do. In this and all my lives\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo \u2013 who previously dated actor Irina Shayk \u2013 admitted he became emotional during the proposal.<\/p>\n
He told Morgan: \u201cI didn\u2019t cry, but I had tears in my eyes\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ronaldo said he spent a long time searching for the perfect ring because it was Georgina\u2019s dream to have \u201ca good stone\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe asked me for a ring to offer her because it was one of her dreams to have a good stone. And I work hard, work hard and finally I find what she love.\u201d<\/p>\n
