Christmas<\/a>, whistle notes, and not knowing Jennifer Lopez \u2026 Mariah Carey\u2019s brand is nothing if not consistent. She \u201cwas being honest\u201d when she was asked about J.Lo in a 2003 interview and replied, \u201cI don\u2019t know her.\u201d When Andy Cohen questioned her on the October 1 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Carey framed it as a victory for truth: \u201cI was being honest when I said it. So I don\u2019t know how it became so big. Honesty isn\u2019t really something that becomes big \u2014 most of the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is certainly not Carey\u2019s first time speaking about this viral moment; it has happened enough times over the years that fans have had enough fodder to make \u201cI don\u2019t know her\u201d compilations on YouTube<\/a>. Even Lopez herself has weighed in, telling Wendy Williams in 2016 that she and Carey have, in fact, met \u201cmany times\u201d and quipping that the singer must be \u201cforgetful.\u201d Later that year, Carey clarified<\/a> to Cohen that meeting someone is not the same as knowing someone. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I don\u2019t know who she is \u2014 of course I do. That\u2019s not the question,\u201d she said, noting that she doesn\u2019t mean any \u201coffense\u201d but feels no need to pretend to be best friends with anyone just because they\u2019re also in Hollywood. So more than two decades later, does Carey finally know her? (Hey, the Bennifer<\/a> engagement, marriage, and divorce is proof that Lopez\u2019s relationship with somebody can evolve over time.) \u201cHow can I suddenly know?\u201d Carey maintains. \u201cYou know?\u201d Guess she won\u2019t be going to see Kiss of the Spider Woman<\/a>.<\/p>\n
