Zero Waste Aotearoa, a national environmental advocacy organisation focused on waste reduction and resource recovery, has welcomed the council\u2019s decision to challenge the ruling.<\/p>\n

In a social media post, the non-profit organisation described the development as \u201cgood news\u201d and said it was \u201creally pleased and grateful\u201d that the NRC had decided to take action in the case.<\/p>\n

The organisation said New Zealand\u2019s regulatory framework had yet to adequately address emerging technologies such as pyrolysis and repeated its call for a national moratorium on waste incineration.<\/p>\n

NRC\u2019s group manager regulatory services Colin Dall confirmed that the council lodged its appeal on August 3.<\/p>\n
