Police reminded participants that they will not tolerate illegal, dangerous, intimidating or anti-social behaviour and appropriate enforcement action will be taken where offences are identified. <\/p>\n

\"PolicePolice will be present during a large bike ride in South Auckland this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur roads are there for everyone, and all road users should be able to travel safely and without disruption,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice encourage all participants to make good decisions, follow the road rules, and help ensure the event is conducted safely for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police monitored a mass bike ride on Auckland\u2019s North Shore<\/a> on August 9 which involved about 40 cyclists. <\/p>\n

Waitemat\u0101 East area commander Inspector Aron McKeown said police maintained a visible presence during the ride and was disappointed at the behaviour of some participants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere offences could be safely addressed at the time, enforcement action was taken,\u201d McKeown said at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere this was not possible, police will investigate offending for subsequent enforcement action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Infringements for excess speed, multiple helmet offences and other vehicle-related offences were issued at the event, police confirmed. <\/p>\n

A similar event last May in West Auckland also attracted a police presence, with 53 infringement notices being issued<\/a> by police that time. <\/p>\n
