The long-awaited opening date for Kent’s latest David Lloyd health club has finally been confirmed.<\/p>\n
It comes as new pictures show progress on the \u00a3154-a-month facility at Altira Business Park in Herne Bay, near Sainsbury\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Work started on the site in January this year and has been progressing on schedule ever since, with bosses in August announcing the centre would open its doors in December.<\/p>\n
The complex will feature a 100+ station gym, heated indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and padel courts, and a series of David Lloyd\u2019s signature group exercise classes, including Blaze, Spirit, Ignite, Cyclone and Rebels.<\/p>\n
Members will also be able to use a spa retreat boasting a Himalayan salt sauna, rainforest experience shower, citrus steam room, ice cave, plunge pools and a swim-in-out hydrotherapy pool.<\/p>\n
David Lloyd Herne Bay general manager Mike van Heerden announced the club\u2019s opening date: \u201cOur official opening on December 2 can\u2019t come soon enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to welcoming members through the doors and creating a vibrant community where people can focus on their health and wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the eye-watering price tag of \u00a3154 a month, Mr van Heerden says the take-up has been impressive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been overwhelmed by the interest in the new Herne Bay Club, with memberships being snapped up ahead of opening day,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith memberships limited, I\u2019d encourage anyone thinking about joining to secure their place or book a tour soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll also be giving our members the chance to enjoy an exclusive first look at the facilities before we officially open our doors for the first time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re delighted that recruitment has gone well, which has led to David Lloyd creating 75 jobs for local residents.\u201d<\/p>\n
For families, the club will include a terrace, business lounge, family zone and indoor soft play area, as well as junior coaching programmes through Swim Stars and Tennis Stars.<\/p>\n
A full food and drink menu \u2013 including children\u2019s meals, smoothies and coffees \u2013 will be available in the Clubroom.<\/p>\n

The Herne Bay site will be the only David Lloyd in east Kent, with the nearest alternatives currently in Maidstone and Kings Hill.<\/p>\n
