A Renwick family fled for their lives in the early hours of Friday morning after a fire destroyed their home.<\/p>\n

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called to the blaze at 4.53am.<\/p>\n

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says six appliances from Blenheim, Renwick and Woodbourne responded.<\/p>\n

“The fire appears to have started in the garage, and the investigation into its cause is ongoing.”<\/p>\n

Neighbour Brad Taylor says he was woken shortly after 5am.<\/p>\n

“I looked out the back and all I could see was orange, I got my wife and daughter up and outside straight away. The firefighters were incredible they were on the scene so quickly and straight onto controlling the blaze.”<\/p>\n

All of the people inside the house were evacuated safely.<\/p>\n

Fire investigators who spoke to Marlborough App say that the home’s smoke alarms had done their job, alerting those inside to the danger.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Renwick home that was destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning.
