<\/p>\nRobert Irwin has ruled out a permanent move to the United States despite his rapidly expanding international career, saying he is not quite ready to become an Aussie expat.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old conservationist said Australia will \u201calways\u201d be his home.<\/p>\n
But Irwin insisted his success abroad would not come at the expense of his Australian roots during an appearance on Nova\u2019s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love all my mates in the States, but I\u2019m an Aussie. Always will be,\u201d Irwin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll always live here. I get to live in a zoo, mate. It\u2019s pretty awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n
Irwin said Australia Zoo remained at the heart of his work despite the many \u201cside quests\u201d taking his career to a much larger global audience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of side quests going on now, you know what I mean? But it\u2019s fun, and I bleed khaki,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m casting this net out wider than it\u2019s ever been, to bring everyone back to conservation, to fun and passion and positivity.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAustralia Zoo – my heart beats from there, and I\u2019ll always represent my home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The comments come as Irwin prepares to host the Logies after his profile soared internationally, with his growing presence in the US opening the door to further opportunities in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

The Dancing with the Stars alum said rather than pulling him away from conservation, his ventures into mainstream entertainment provided a platform to take his environmental message to new audiences.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m an environmentalist, I\u2019m a conservationist. That\u2019s who I am,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I am offered an avenue where that message can reach people that would not be thinking about it, like a ballroom in Hollywood or on the stage at the Logies, there\u2019s my chance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Irwin said he was determined to continue stepping outside his comfort zone while remaining true to the work that launched his public career.<\/p>\n
\u201cGive it everything, grow, change, evolve, but stay true to yourself, try and lift everyone up around you, and don\u2019t listen to the naysayers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Asked about his experiences in the US, Irwin joked Americans remained fascinated by Australia\u2019s reputation for dangerous wildlife.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone in America is like, \u2018All these animals can kill you, dude. That\u2019s crazy\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd my job is to say, like, yes, you know, we got crocs, we got venomous snakes, all this. But that\u2019s what makes it cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got crocodiles in our backyard.\u201d<\/p>\n
